Surfer dies near La Santa

A 35 year-old man was killed while surfing near La Santa on New Years Day at the spot known as El Quemao. The man, a resident of Fuerteventura, though originally from Gran Canaria, is thought to have hit his head against the rocky sea bed after being hit by a powerful wave. Witnesses attempted in vain to resuscitate the victim and the emergency services could only confirm his death upon arrival. Digg this Add to del.icio.us
