Mérida UD 1 - 1 UD Lanzarote

A new-look UD Lanzarote picked up a valuable point in Extramadura on Sunday (4 January) with several local players making their debut at Segunda Division B level. Magallanes opened the score for Mérida in the 14th minute against a very nervous-looking Lanzarote, although the visitors began to build their confidence as the minutes passed. Five minutes before the break, the home side were reduced to ten men with the sending off of Samir for taking Oscar Martín down just outside the area. Lanzarote wasted no time in taking advantage of their numerical superiority after the re-start, with Oscar Martín scoring the equaliser in the 46th minute. That proved to be the last goal of the match with the rest of the game played out under somewhat difficult conditions. The draw means that Lanzarote remain in 14th spot with 24 points.
